The human brain is designed to adapt and learn
What have you been teaching to your brain?
What do you want your brain to learn?
As the human brain is designed to adapt and learn, I’d like you to go back to a time in the past not necessarily a distant past. A time in the past when you were a student, sitting in your classroom waiting for the teacher. The teacher came in. She or he was standing in front of the classroom ready to start the lesson.
Then, the teacher was in control of the lesson, not you. He or she knew exactly what he or she would teach you at any given lesson.
The lessons were not random. The teacher followed a lesson plan of what he or she was supposed to teach you.
As a student, you were hopefully paying attention because you knew you would eventually be asked to take action if the form of exercises. The exercises were a way of you knowing whether you understood the subject matter of any given lesson.
Now, I’d like you to go forward in time to this very moment.
See yourself either sitting or standing in front of a student. Only the student is not you but your brain.
So, my question is what kind of lessons are you teaching your brain?
Like your teacher, you are in charge of what you teach to your brain. And the brain will listen and then take action on it has learnt from you.
What are you teaching your brain?
Perhaps you are teaching that you are not good enough, or that you will never get the job you want or that you will always fail.
That’s what your brain will learn and when it takes action guess what, it will do exactly what you have told it to do.
However, as you are the teacher and therefore in control of the lesson, all you have to do is to change the subject matter. Only you can do it, no-one else can.
Teach your brain lessons that support you in a positive and resourceful way. Lessons that help you, encourage you and motivate you to achieve your goals.
Let’s take action right now.
Think about what you have been teaching to your brain. If you are happy with your lessons, great. If not change the subject matter.
Remember you and only you are in charge to the lesson.
If you think that you can’t teach your brain, then let’s have a chat.
