What you see in yourself is what you project on others.
Sometimes when you are preparing for an event, perhaps a job interview or a presentation or even preparing to go to a party when you look at yourself in a mirror and you see your reflection, what you see is what you project on others.
Let’s say you are getting ready to go to a party; you look at yourself in the mirror and you see in your reflection anxiety, stress, fear, sadness or you notice that you are just feeling off.
Let’s say that to get rid of these feelings you choose to wear an outfit that used to make you feel great, vibrant, and gorgeous in the hope that the moment you put it on you’ll feel the same, only to find out that what you see in your reflection is still anxiety, fear, sadness.
Now let’s say that another time you are getting ready to go to another party but only this time when you look at your reflection in the mirror you see confidence, self-belief, self-worth and the knowledge that you deserve to be you and no matter what you wear you still feel great and look great, you then notice that your external appearance is irrelevant.
That’s when you realise that you what see in the mirror is how you perceive yourself.
Your perception of yourself is your projection of yourself.
In other words, what the other sees in yourself is what you project to the other.
When your perception of yourself is one of lack of confidence, insecurity, fear etc that’s what you project to others.
When your perception of yourself is one of confidence, self-love, self-respect etc, that‘s your projection.
Perception is an internal awareness. What happens on the outside is just a projection.
Let’s take action right now.
As perception is an internal awareness, have a good inside and see and feel how you perceive yourself, particularly when life doesn’t go according to plan.
If when doing this exercise you notice that how you perceive yourself is anxiety, stress, insecurity and so on let’s have a chat.
