After considering how to control fear, and analysing the first type of Fear that becomes a problem, the fear of public speaking, today I’d like to talk to you about the fear of taking action.
We will try to find out how to stop procrastinating.
Perhaps now you’re thinking
“Well, everybody procrastinates”.
That’s right, especially when what we have to do is very boring. Sometimes we can even get away with it by delegating the boring job.
But, more often than not, you know that there are things you have to do yourself.
You can procrastinate for fear of failure or fear of rejection.
When do you specifically procrastinate, when you think about your career?
Perhaps you procrastinate on writing the proposal to a potential client? Or following up on previous conversations. Maybe you procrastinate to avoid having the so-called difficult conversation with either a client or a member of your staff.
You think “I’ll do that tomorrow” and tomorrow never comes.
You know that because you feel stuck, you feel frustrated, the blood starts boiling and you know you are not getting anywhere.
So, you know you will not achieve what you want to achieve.
Perhaps you should view procrastination in another way.
Instead of thinking procrastination, perhaps you should think about why you do what you do.
Think about your career.
Perhaps you will think satisfaction, pride, maybe pleasure.
Carry on thinking all things that make you do what you do until you get to the flip side of procrastination, which is Motivation.
