What are limiting beliefs

Limiting Beliefs give you doubts.

When you have doubts you can’t take action. You get stuck.

Let’s start from the beginning.

What are beliefs?

Beliefs are everything we hold to be true.

When you believe in yourself, when you practice Self-Belief you expand your experience of reality because you know that you can do anything.

You may not be able to do everything, but you can do anything you want.

This certainty motivates you to keep going till you get what you want, till you achieve your goals.

It also motivates you to ask for help if you are not sure how to do it, but you do know you can do it because you believe in yourself.

Limiting Belief is exactly the opposite and it does what it says on the tin; it limits your experience of reality.

Limiting Beliefs lead you to say to yourself that: “I’m not good enough” or “I can’t get anything right”, “Everything I do goes wrong”, “I won’t go for the job because I’m too old”, “I won’t go for the job because I’m too young.”

Well, congratulations. You are covered, you are either too old or too young.

And the ranting goes on.

“I am rubbish at everything.” “Why would someone invite me out?” “Why would I get promoted?’

If you keep saying this to yourself long enough, you’ll put all your focus and all your energy on not believing in yourself, and this shrinks your experience of reality.

You doubt yourself.

When you doubt yourself you can’t take action.

And worse of all your experience of reality gets blurred so you are not able to see opportunities, even if they come knocking; because “Why would someone give me an opportunity?” “I’m not good enough.”

And then you get stuck.

What can you do?

Well, you can be aware of what you say to yourself.

Pay attention to what you say to yourself.

And change it.

Because only you can do it.

No-one else can, because we don’t know what you think about yourself, you do.

So, let’s take action right now.

Let me give you a tip on how to do it.

There are many ways of doing it because we are all different from each other.

This is how I do it when I doubt myself.

Think about your past achievements; big or small, it doesn’t matter.

Something that made you proud.

Pay attention to your feelings, to how you feel when you think about your achievements.

Perhaps it is pride or joy or fulfilment.

Pay attention to how you felt when you got the girl or when you got the guy; when you got the promotion or the job; when you received a compliment or when someone came to you because you give good advice.

Make these feelings bigger.

Cover you whole body with them.

Keep doing if every time you doubt yourself, especially in challenging times when it feels that the whole world is crumbling down on you.

Is it though?

No.

Because you believe in yourself; you know you can.
