Behind the statements “I’m a perfectionist” and “I have very high standards” there are a negative mindset and fear. Find out how to let go of perfectionism.
Today I’d like to talk about two statements we hear quite often:
“I’m a perfectionist”
“I have very high standards”.
Even though they may sound very good and positive, I know that they can also be a trap.
The first one, “I’m a perfectionist”, is definitely a trap.
As human beings, we are not perfect. It is our imperfections that make us grow and evolve.
The second can be very dangerous if you set yourself unrealistic high standards.
Firstly, if they are so high, you can’t even see them. Secondly, it will be impossible to live up to them. You set yourself up to fail.
The traps behind these two statements are a negative mindset and, worst of all … Fear.
But you can change that.
Read below to find out how to let go of perfectionism.
Instead of thinking “Perfection” and “High Standards”, in your professional or private life, think instead of doing your best with the resources you have at the time of your project.
Knowing that you have control over the results by paying attention to them. Remember that you have the ability to adapt the results if they are not what you expected.
You can even change it altogether.
That gives you confidence and also gives you control.
This, in turn, changes your mindset from negative to positive and keeps fear under control.
In this process of giving your best, you also create a very good habit of thinking about resources and the ability to adapt and change.
By doing that, the idea of failure is kept way outside your awareness. It’s a win-win situation.
So, be careful of this trap of being perfect and having high standards.
Now if at this point in time you are trapped in these two statements, then let’s have a chat. Sign up for a free consultation where you can ask as many questions as you want.
